How to Stop Abusive Comments on Instagram Live?

Spread the love

If you watched me speak on camera this week about our negative experiences with Instagram Live comments, you may have caught a glimpse of my ranting.

The Live feature was a terrific tool for people who wanted to speak with each other in real-time for a long time. Something, however, didn’t feel quite right this time around. Strangers showed up to both of our live streams this week, and the vast majority of them were weird and disrespectful to the participants.

The term “boobs!” was frequently used, as was the request for people to “take their shirt off.” This was a discussion about breasts. A person’s excitement was heightened when they noticed feet. The rest is probably self-explanatory.

The critics didn’t worry us because we were well-versed in the subject matter, so they were of no concern to us. Since we are 15 years old, things would be very different, on the other hand. Consider the possibility that we might use our lives to beg for help if we were feeling particularly vulnerable. Consider how much more difficult it would be if you were a member of a minority group or appeared to be less “traditionally dressed.” This happened on Periscope, and it effectively shut down the platform for the majority of its users.

We also think that Live is a fantastic tool for creating content. Check with it and see how it performs for you! It’s a lot more fun than you’d think, and a lot less scary.  It excites people to see and hear you talk in front of them. It’s a fantastic and entertaining activity.

Is this correct? That is, until the trolls start knocking on the door.

It’s now possible to block people on Instagram Live if you don’t want to interact with them. Getting rid of a few folks who don’t want to be there is a breeze using this method. The people we had were all very distinct from one another. You can’t just block everyone because there are likely a large number of these individuals in the area.

As a result, we started in search of an answer. This is particularly handy if you wish to keep out spam accounts that may appear from time to time on your site.

The idea of the same feature working on Live seemed a little far-fetched to us at the time, but it piqued our interest nonetheless. We couldn’t see a thing in the darkness. It worked out great!

A list of words to block

This function, however, has a few limitations. In the end, “boobs” were prevented from passing, while “boobs” were permitted to pass through. Removing words from a blacklist can be accomplished in a variety of ways, so it is crucial to consider all of your options before making a decision. Generally speaking, we are not fans of censorship in any way, shape, or form.

After conducting an extensive study on Facebook and Google-banned terms, we selected only those that we believed were suitable use.

We recommend that you skim over it to make sure there is nothing there that you don’t want blocked out.

Among them is political terminology that you might be comfortable discussing on your own behalf with people who hold political.

Please include any terms that we haven’t covered or that are particularly hurtful to you in the comments section. Even if you are aware of how to use these terms, it can be difficult to come up with them. It’s possible that there’s something more we should have included in this list. We would greatly appreciate hearing from you!

If you want to use this feature, click on your Instagram profile and then on the “comments” setting. When you go to your profile page, you’ll notice it near the bottom of the page, near the cog symbol. When you click “edit profile” on your desktop, you will see the option “comments” in the sidebar of the window.
